Please join us for an evening of networking & education, presented by the Society for New Communications Research in conjunction with the Third Thursday Meetup Group. Hosted & sponsored by SAP Our June event, which will be held on a Tuesday, not a Thursday, will feature Forrester analyst and web strategist Jeremiah Owyang, sharing findings from his latest report, The Future of the Social Web. Jeremiah and his colleagues at Forrester interviewed 24 companies to inform this new research. According to the report: Consumer adoption of social networks is increasing a rapid pace, and brands are adopting even during a recession, so expect the social media space to rapidly innovate to match this trend. Don't miss this important event featuring Jeremiah Owyang in conversation with the SNCR Fellows about the findings of this new report. All attendees will be provided access to the full report, courtesy of Forrester. This is a FREE event, but donations to SNCR are accepted and encouraged. SNCR will also be holding a Phoneraiser in conjunction with this event. Bring your old mobile phones and ink cartridges. We'll recycle them through Phoneraiser. Help the environment and support SNCR! SNCR is a 501c3 nonprofit research and education foundation. Your donations are tax deductible.

Greetings everyone, our 2008 Third Thursday meetup series is set to kick off next month (please note, there will be *no* March meetup). For our first meetup of the year, we've invited bloggers from eBay, Sony PlayStation and Yahoo! to join us in a discussion and examination of the state of corporate blogging. Nicki Dugan from Yahoo! has been driving Yahoo!'s Yodel Anecdotal blog for nearly two years, and will speak to lessons learned and some of the best practices she and her team have developed over this stretch. Likewise, Jeff Rubenstein with Sony Computer Entertainment America, will discuss his day-to-day involvement and experiences with Sony's PlayStation blog. Finally, Richard Brewer-Hay, eBay's new editor-in-chief, will share his initial thoughts around eBay's upcoming corporate blogging efforts. Each panelist has a very unique perspective on the role of blogs insider their organizations, it should make for a lively discussion. Room will be limited, so please RSVP soon. Also, two additional announcements: For our May Third Thursday Meetup, we're excited to share news that Charlene Li, Principal Analyst for Forrester and co-author of Groundswell, a new book examining the impact of social media in business, will be joining us to discuss the book and its findings in more detail. More info on this meetup will be posted shortly. Again, space is limited, so please RSVP. Finally, co-producer of Third Thursdays, the Society for New Communications Research, is hosting its fourth annual New Communications Forum next month in Santa Rosa. This is an amazing conference for business folks interested in stretching their understanding and application of new media in business. SNCR has providing all Third Thursday members with a $100 discount on registrations. Please use this code (NCF08100). Some great stuff on the horizon, thanks everyone. - Third Thursday Organizers

As marketers continue to grok the importance and impact of online conversations on brands, they're increasingly looking at new tools, new platforms that will help augment and extend the way they tell their stories via the web. Corporate blogs, branded social networks and other new media platforms are proving their worth and return inside many companies, but knowing which tool(s) to use in your marketing program is only part of the equation -- knowing what it takes to successfully *create and build* a platform for conversation is the other, and it's a part where many markters get stuck. Josh Hallett, SNCR Fellow, principal and founder of Hyku, Inc., and a well-respected social media blogger and consultant will be talking with us about some of the technical and production considerations that marketers need to consider when undertaking new media projects. Josh will be joined by Alex Kim from SolutionSet, a veteran in interactive strategy and design, who has extensive experience building and maintaining online communities. Space is limited, so please RSVP ASAP, this is one of those new media talks you don't want to miss... - Third Thursday Organizers
