Who organized?

Ask at the desk. We will likely have a room there.

This is New Brunswick's first Social Media Meetup.

David Alston of Radian6 suggested that since Jason falls, author of Social Media Explorer will be in Fredericton visiting Radian6 that we take this opportunity and turn it into a social media event. Jason Falls from Kentucky also authors the public relations blog, The Straight Pitch (www.straightpitch.com). His freelance work includes copywriting for corporate websites and publications and writing television scripts for the web-based video program, The Daily Idea . He is also a regular contributor to MoreThanDerby.com, a Louisville-based community blog.

We'd also like to ask that everyone donate an amount of their choice to The Frozen Pea Fund for membership. The Frozen Pea Fund is raising money for breast cancer in Susan Reynold's name. The Social Media community has embraced Susan's Pea Fund and we can use the power of networking to do a lot of good. Thanks to Radian6 for the social monitoring of the Pea media.

There will be finger foods and refreshments available.

We hope to see you there!

Wow, I had no idea what pent up demand we have here for an event like this. Unfortunately the room only holds about 30 folks so we had to cap it at that. If you happen to find out that you absolutely can't make it after all please RSVP "no" so others can take you spot. Looking forward to a great event. Spoke with Jason today and he has lots of cool things to share tomorrow. See everyone then.

That's a good question buKit. Any volunteers to do minute by minute twitter posts of the meeting?

i enjoy social media as it allows me to actually be 'social' without being 'social', because really, at heart, I'm anti-social.

Jason is definitely a pioneer when it comes to social media. If you are on Twitter you would probably be aware of his social media experiment with Robby Gordon's Baha1000 race. Not only is Jason extremely knowledgeable in the use of social media but his posts are very entertaining. He has a great sense of humour and uses it to convey his points on a regular basis. It promises to be a great evening of sharing, stories and networking. Make sure to RSVP and bring along a guest.

Who attended?

    •  I was thrilled to be invited and even more thrilled to be asked to speak. I can't thank everyone enough for staying out late to chat with little ole me. What a great community of thinkers you have here. Remember ... you're all experts! This was so much fun.
    •  Great start. Lets keep it going and people who weren't their really missed out.
    •  Great to see so many people interested in Social Media, to meet them, and to hear their ideas. With Jason Falls it was natural that Radian6 was a hot topic - we will have to make sure that we hear from others in the future and that there is no sense of dominance (I'm from Radian6 too; we all want to respect and contribute to the community).
    •  Really appreciated the opportunity to learn more about Social Media, and am fascinated. Jason was fun to listen to, and it was exciting to get a glimpse of the connection between radian6 and his business.
    •  Jason did a great job with his presentation tonight. Thanks to Lisa Rousseau for organizing the event and meetup site.
    •  Wonderful kick-off event around a gripping area of interest (social media)

Thanks so much everyone for coming out tonight. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone better and learning more from all of you. Please feel free to send us feedback about what you would like to see at these events as well. Thanks! Lisa
    •  I really enjoyed meeting other people sharing similar interests and talking the same language! It did bring up some great ideas and topics that I had not put much thought into before.

This was quite eye opening and a great networking meet :) I'm glad to see such tech savvy people trying to get somewhere with new media.

Jason and the other speaker were great.
    •  This was an eye opener on many levels. I enjoyed listening to Jason and meeting people interested in this subject. Thanks to Jason for making the trip and thanks also to the organizers.
